Living in Laguna Beach means she spends a lot of time there making memories with her friends, and Lauren wanted her senior photo gallery to commemorate this chapter of her life. I knew as soon as we took the first shot that her Laguna Beach senior photos would reflect her personality and natural beauty (I mean, look at her!)!

We were easily able to identify the best locations for her Laguna Beach senior photos during our consultation call. She wanted a mixture of California’s signature beach backdrops as well as something a bit more city-inspired, and I knew just the places. The first spot had a variety of backdrops including white walls and palm trees, giving us that chic and urban, but still California-esque, look. Our second location had wide open spaces, beautiful cliffs, and rock features in the water. Together, it was a perfect combination for what Lauren wanted.

The session was effortless.

It was a warm summer day with lots of sunshine and Lauren's outfits coincided perfectly with the backdrops. I loved the variety of her looks! She started with a white dress and red boots, then changed into a colorful romper which really brought out her eye color. Then, she ended with not one, but TWO beautiful evening gown-type looks on the beach. She looked stunning! I've been seeing a lot more formal-wear in the last year, which is great — senior photos are a special occasion and the wardrobe selection can and should reflect that! When else will you get to being professionally photographed on your own wearing a gown in a beautiful setting?

Lauren also opted for hair & makeup for her session, which is an add-on I offer and highly recommend. This way, Lauren was able to not only look her best, but also got to enjoy the pampering as well!

There was a bit of a breeze during Lauren’s session, so I pulled out an old trick that I use for many of my clients.

If hair is ever blown out of place, I tell them to pinch it behind their ear. This prevents the hair from blocking your eyes, neck, and face, and also, it’s a cute pose! You can see this pose throughout Lauren’s Laguna Beach senior photos as it became second nature for her once the wind started picking up.

Most people would agree that taking photos in a public setting can be challenging, which is why it's so important to have guidance and clear feedback to begin with. Almost always, it takes a few minutes of warming up to get settled into a flow. The truth is though, there's really no way to mess it up! Getting used to being in front of the camera takes a bit of repetition, and ends in a beautiful result. After the first few directed shots we took that day, it was clear Lauren's gallery would be no exception.

Lauren was so much fun to work with. She is sweet, bubbly, and oh-so-photogenic! As captain of the cheer & dance team, she is used to performing, so she wasn't shy in front of the camera, especially by the end of the session.
