5 Reasons to Have an 8th Grade Graduation Photoshoot | The Middle School Milestone
Yes, 8th Grade Graduation PhotoShoots Are a Thing.
And a great thing, at that! If you thought graduation photos were strictly for college grads popping champagne and high school seniors sporting their college choice sweatshirts—think again.
Middle school gets a bad wrap, really.
Let’s garner enough courage to transport ourselves back to those ironically iconic (albeit awkward) years of our lives. At the very least, it’s easy to acknowledge just how different we were as people in middle school than in pretty much any other chapter of life.
Though a student’s journey through middle school is often brief, it is arguably one of the most transformative. As a photographer, I work with 8th-grade clients who are eager to document their favorite hobbies, interests and passions that still linger from their earlier childhoods.
Most commonly, I capture interests such as sports (like soccer, for example), reading (a stack of books from a popular series), a love for Disney, and even family memorabilia (like this family friend’s class woodie) incorporated in these tween-type photo shoots.
But what’s the big deal about 8th grade specifically? Shouldn’t we just shuffle my kiddo into high school and keep his/her small yearbook as my keepsake?
More than a mass-produced yearbook, you want a book which tells your 8th grader’s unique story. One that isn’t scribbled with “H.A.G.S.” on the end-leaves, and one that features your 8th grader on more than just 3 sporadic pages. You want crisp, high-quality images with captures their scrunchy-nose smile-laugh when they’re caught off guard. You want an heirloom keepsake which highlights the thing they stay up at night playing, reading or dreaming about.
The thing is, all of that can quickly change once the school bell rings in freshman year of high school. So, if you need any more convincing, consider these five reasons for setting up a professional 8th grade graduation photoshoot:
Customized, professional-grade photo albums are a higher-quality alternative to yearbooks as a keepsake.
At this point, it’s still not too late to highlight their favorite hobbies and interests from childhood.
The way they look will change rapidly in the coming years. Have it documented while you can!
8th grade photos are a great introduction to their high school senior photos. Think about the side-by-side photo poses you could re-create! So fun!
You can also take family photos at the same time, like the Scopaz family did below. Win, win!
